During the summer of 2010 the NICE will be partnering with the Corvallis Community Energy Project to host our  third installment of  Summer of Solution programs.  The NICE Summer of Solutions 2010 program will continue to spread and adapt our process for creating collaborative solutions and enhance the success of the Corvallis Community Energy Project (CCEP) through direct support for community ideas, the creation of learning moments for program participants, and national networking that brings together organizers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

In early February, the Northwest Institute for Community Enrichment and the Corvallis Community Energy Project convened a team to plan and implement a Summer of Solutions 2010 program as partnership between the NICE, CCEP, and Corvallis residents and groups.  This summer program will support the emergent collaborative solution teams from the Job’s Addition Neighborhood Energy Listening Project and replicate the Neighborhood Energy Listening Project to develop collaborative solutions for the energy system with a new neighborhood in Corvallis.  This summer program will adapt and replicate the general process that has been developed by the Corvallis Community Energy Project with this new neighborhood and integrate a curriculum that will enhance the skill set and learning moments for participants.

This summer program will empower, assist, and train community members who take the lead on projects and students who want to create collaborative solutions in other areas.  The training techniques in our summer program incorporate facilitated peer-to-peer experiential learning, evaluation, and reflection.  In doing so we will create a program that empowers participants to share in the responsibility of creating their experience and learning.  The contextual and applied nature of our learning moments result in increased confidence of participants and directly improve the communities we interact with.
